What tiny daily habit could be life changing?
The 5-second tiny habit that made the biggest impact in my 2016 is actually a non-habit. Let me explain. I used to come back home in the evening, and fall asleep pretty late with a sense of dissatisfaction.
I wanted to get back into my evening meditation, and yet I could never manage to fit it into my evening.
I wanted to read before bed to wind down and catch up with my reading list, and yet it never happened.
I also wanted to write in my journal to reorganise my thoughts before bed, and I only managed to write once every week or so. It was a bit random.
What changed everything? This:
Every night at 9:15 pm I have a reminder set to tell me it's "Amish time". Phone off, laptop off, screens off.
I only make an exception to this on Friday and Saturday evening, when my routine is a bit more lax. I don't have a reminder, but I often switch off anyway and enjoy whatever I am doing.
This tiny habit (5 seconds) made a massive impact:
1.I journal every single day. Journalling is awesome and it allows me to feel a lot calmer, understand myself better, and make poised decisions.
2.I meditate in the evening a lot more often than I used to lately (which was never).
3.I read before bed every day.
4.My deep sleep has increased by 20%.
5.It's a lot easier to wake up in the morning!
